Here at Thrive Market Batesville, Zero Waste is a lifestyle. To achieve our goal of diverting as much waste from the landfill as possible, we have taken a teaching approach to Zero-Waste. Zero-Waste can be broken down into upstream generation of waste and downstream generation of waste. Thrivers should be mindful of what waste is being generated upstream and suggest ways to eliminate it. Our focus is internal and downstream waste prevention. It will require individual accountability, encourage all Thrivers to adhere to our zero-waste policy and actively participate in and support the advancement of our zero-waste efforts.
“Zero Waste certification is just one commitment we’ve made on our 5-year journey to build the world’s first Climate Positive grocery store," explained Kristin De Simone, Sr Manager, Mission at Thrive Market. "We’ve made these commitments because we feel duty-bound to take urgent climate action and protect our planet. We know that business can be a catalyst for positive change. All it takes is some determination, collaboration, empathy, and commitment. Thrive Market is working to become zero-waste across all of our fulfillment centers in 2022. This initiative helps drive us toward more efficient business and environmental practices and we’re excited to continue to identify ways to reduce waste and make even more sustainable improvements in the future.”
The Batesville facility recertified at the Platinum level in 2024 from their original Silver-level certification!
