Thought Leadership Panel: Promoting a Circular Economy

  • October 13, 2021 at 10:30 AM ET

Join the Mid-Atlantic and New England (MANE) region of USGBC for a virtual, interactive session on how the promoting a circular economy within our region will promote a better standard of living for all.

In 2019, the Allan-McArthur Foundation stated that the circular economy could generate over $1 trillion of annual savings globally by 2025. We can keep our current methods of continuous improvement, while at the same time pushing out in all directions. Our existing tools and strategies need to be rethought, rebuilt, reengineered, re-envisioned, recalibrated and remade to promote a completely new way of thinking about what resource usage means to all humankind in the 21st century.

The potential benefits of shifting to a circular economy extend beyond the economy and into the natural environment. By designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating rather than degrading natural systems, the circular economy represents a powerful contribution to achieving global climate targets.

Please join us as we examine how businesses would benefit significantly by shifting to a mindset in line with the principles of the circular economy. These benefits include the creation of new profit opportunities, reduced costs due to lower virgin-material requirements, and stronger relationships with customers and impact the communities and how we live, work and play in our communities.

This past year has also highlighted more than ever the importance of our communities, as we have supported and relied on our neighbors, and worked hard to keep each other safe.

This year, Build Reuse’s Deconstruction + Reuse Conference - the only North American conference focused explicitly on reuse in the built environment - will look at how we can make reuse a priority as we rebuild better. What has been successful and what still needs to be accomplished?
