Project Overview:

We are Colgate, a caring, innovative growth company reimagining a healthier future for people, their pets and our planet. Using our company values helped us to achieve TRUE certification for zero waste through implementing sustainable practices, minimizing waste generation and maximising diversion from landfill. During the project employees were engaged through training programs, workshops, and sustainability events to raise awareness about waste reduction and recycling. Employees were recognised and rewarded for their contributions to waste reduction efforts.

One innovative solution that demonstrated full-team out-of-the-box thinking to support our certification was the unique change in approach to our canteen food provision service. Aligning to low demand, we were able to innovatively reposition our canteen to serve pre-portioned ready-meals, provided via vending machines, closing our kitchen which prepared hot-food on-site. This allowed us to extensively reduce our organic food waste each month as well as save costs on food preparation that was ultimately no longer demanded by the personnel on site.

“By 2025, we aim to achieve 100% TRUE certification for our global operations, including manufacturing sites, technology centers, strategic offices and owned warehouses,” says Ann Tracy, Chief Sustainability Officer. “With enthusiastic teams, collaborative partners and this comprehensive approach to waste reduction, we’re confident we can make it happen.” https://www.colgatepalmolive.com/en-us/sustainability
