Mountain Rose Herbs is about herbs, health, and harmony. Our unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship dictates how we think about our waste management plan. We strive to cut all waste production by rethinking and redesigning our operational procedures to create a more dynamic approach to product design, resource recovery, and recycling.

Mountain Rose Herbs is primarily an e-commerce business supplying organic herbs, spices, butter, oils, and other bulk botanical ingredients. Our Procurement and Purchasing departments anticipate seasonal demand and work hard to not over purchase to reduce waste and increase savings. Zero waste practices and policies we employ as part of our waste management plan include using biodegradable and recyclable air pillows in conjunction with recycled content fill material during shipping. In 2015, nearly seventy thousand pounds of our herbs were donated to farms. Reclaimed furniture and FSC certified timber from a local timber company was used in the opening of our first retail location in 2016. We also have three Master Recyclers on staff and a Green Team to continually improve and educate employees about zero waste practices. These practices and others help sustain our bond with the natural world, create jobs, and, ultimately, save money.

Mountain Rose Herbs is the first company in Oregon to achieve TRUE Zero Waste certification from GBCI at the highest available certification level — Platinum.
