Anzio Plant is aligned with the Colgate Sustainability Strategy and Mission, and we are proud to say that “we can and we will create a healthier, more sustainable future for all.” We are committed to following the zero waste program from GBCI , promoting initiatives to reduce waste production, and improving the diversion rate by decreasing the percentage of waste to energy or landfill. Our effort aims to find new ways to recycle and reuse. All our employees and suppliers participate annually at the zero waste training. Team members are also involved in ourTrash to Treasure initiative, and contribute to optimizing the recycling process.
Some highlights of the sustainability program in Anzio Plant, are (1) our process for circular economy for paper and plastic containers, which is a circle of short supply chain in the local market, and include our packaging and waste management suppliers; (2) the digitization initiative to reduce paper which saves up to 31,000 sheets of paper per year; and (3) the use of two compactor machines that decrease the volume for paper and generic waste by 50%, and the related number of transports with a great effort in CO2 emissions reduction. Sustainability for us also includes food donation, and its reuse to fertilize some of our local fruit trees.
“By 2025, we aim to achieve 100% TRUE certification for our global operations, including manufacturing sites, technology centers, strategic offices and owned warehouses,” says Ann Tracy, Chief Sustainability Officer. “With enthusiastic teams, collaborative partners and this comprehensive approach to waste reduction, we’re confident we can make it happen.”
