Taylor Farms Baja
Taylor Farms Baja (TF Baja) is a fresh produce processing facility that supplies retailers with chopped salad kits, salads, leafy greens trays, vegetable snack trays, and many more. The facility produces over 170 million pounds of products each year.
Since zero waste conversations at TF Baja first started in 2024, the facility increased its diversion rate by 25 percentage points in less than two years. Through vendor negotiations, the team managed to significantly reduce their landfill-bound organic waste. They also achieved better source separation by investing in color-coded bins and regularly holding employee training. With more consistent and granular data tracking, the team is able to more quickly identify contamination and opportunities for improvement.
TF Baja joins Taylor Farms’ portfolio as the sixth TRUE-certified facility. The TF Baja team was able to utilize shared resources, including existing SOP and EPP documents. As we add even more facilities into our portfolio, we aim to lower the barrier to certification through resource sharing.
The TF Baja team is incredibly proud of this achievement. Their efforts have proven to drive cultural change within the company, encouraging more sustainable operation as standard practice. With even more active collaboration with the national Sustainability team and other TRUE-certified facilities, we look forward to producing even more healthy fresh foods while minimizing our impact on our planet.
