Project Overview:

Good practices related to recycling in the SANOFI offices began in 2016 when the first recycling bins were installed in common areas. In conjunction with this new initiative, the control of waste generated was sharpened, and Sanofi began weighing recyclable waste generated daily. This strategy allowed them to take specific considerations related to the matter, which is why in 2018, two important campaigns were launched concerning recycling: Sanofi Plastic Free, to reduce the amount of plastic generated, and Sanofi Go Paperless, to reduce paper consumption.

The commitment to continuously improve the reduction of discarded materials started when Sanofi decided to pursue the TRUE certification and became an office policy to embrace strategies towards sustainability in general, and reach the goal of diverting 90% of the waste generated.

Opting for this certification allowed Sanofi to observe and consider other means of recycling to avoid sending waste to landfill. For this reason, in addition to separating plastic, paper, and cardboard, Sanofi installed a compost bin on the terrace of the building to recycle and transform wet paper, food scraps, and landscape trimmings. Previously, all this waste could not be recycled and sent to landfills.
