Nik Balachandran

Nik’s recent foray into the waste industry was triggered by the excessive amounts of waste in the environment and the lack of data on the quantity, quality and type of waste being disposed of. A strong advocate of the circular economy, he founded Zabble in 2016 to build a cloud based platform using mobile technology to simplify waste audits and analysis for improving process efficiency. He currently works with restaurants and buildings to establish zero waste processes to reduce waste, increase diversion, reduce contamination and save money. Nik Balachandran has more than 12 years of experience at startups in the San Francisco Bay Area bringing seminal ideas to life from inception to scale. As a data scientist, he has developed groundbreaking algorithms in noise cancellation, patient medication adherence, indoor air quality and waste monitoring. Nik Balachandran has a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University and is a TRUE Zero Waste Advisor. His passion for hiking and open water swimming is a constant reminder to keep trash out of the environment by leveraging the use of today’s technology.
