Cheryl Greenwald
Environmental Officer, Harvard University
TRUE Advisor
I work in Harvard University's Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department. I earned my master's in Sustainability & Environmental Management in 2016 from the Harvard University Extension School. I am a Zero Waste TRUE Advisor. I entered the environmental field in 2012, when I began my graduate coursework, taking one course per term while working.
Prior to returning to work for Harvard, I spent 2.5 years at Casella Resource Solutions, contributing to the company's environmental sustainability goals and gaining a valuable perspective from the inside of the materials management industry. In 2017, I co-developed and co-taught a Sustainability course at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. Before that, I worked in Harvard's EHS department, moving up from an internship to a one-year term position. Upon entering graduate school, I interned at Clean Water Action on the Zero Mercury Campaign, and worked for a renewable energy company. Before entering the environmental field in 2012, I worked as a project manager, as a copy editor, and in human services, and I earned credits towards a master's in Speech-Language Pathology.
My personal interests include enjoying time with my spouse and cats, crossword puzzles, learning Portuguese, reading non-fiction, mushroom hunting, and watching documentaries. Generally, I am a learner and a questioner, with boundless curiosity.
