Director, Project Next LLC

TRUE Advisor
I have made a purpose-driven career change to help organizations (especially teams, leagues, university athletic departments and other groups in the sports industry) reduce their environmental impacts and take action on climate change by influencing fan and stakeholder perceptions and behaviors. Originally trained as a journalist, I spent 24 years in the magazine business and first awoke to the urgency and importance of sustainability in 2006 while working at the publishing company Rodale, which published Al Gore's book "An Inconvenient Truth." As the Editor-in-Chief of Runner's World, I published several stories on sustainability, including a groundbreaking examination of "the runner's footprint" and the impact of mass producing running shoes. I also co-founded the Runner's World Half-Marathon & Festival series in 2012, which earned a Gold certification from the Council for Responsible Sport for its focus on sustainability. I recently earned a second Master's degree, in Sports Business, and I’ve designed a course on Sport & Sustainability that I’ll be teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Temple University in the fall. Now working as a consultant based in the Lehigh Valley, I'm committed to applying my experience and expertise as a leader and storyteller to what I regard as the most important issue of our time: addressing climate change. I see my TRUE Advisor certification, and the zero-waste framework, as an essential part of this work.
