Chelsea Simmons

Chelsea currently works for SitelogIQ as an Energy Engineer. Chelsea received her master’s degree in Environmental Sciences and Policy from Johns Hopkins University. Her masters focused on science communication, environmental decision making, and circular economy. Prior to her role at SitelogIQ, Chelsea was the first SEI Climate Corp Data Analysis fellow for the City of Durham focused on the City’s Climate Action Plan. Her work played a pivotal role in setting the City of Durham up for future success through data driven decision making. At SitelogIQ, she oversees the Energy Conservation Program at Durham Public Schools which consists of 6 million square feet, 57 campuses, and 32,000 students and has achieved a 16% reduction in total energy use, saving the district $2.8 million in utility costs in its three years. Chelsea leverages data analytic tools to track electricity, natural gas, and water usage across 57 DPS facilities. Data insights help to identify energy trends, energy-saving opportunities, develop conservation policies, and forecast utility budgets for DPS. Chelsea consults on new construction, renovation projects, and renewable energy expansions across the district. She collaborates with multiple stakeholders inside and outside of the district to ensure optimal energy efficiency results.
