I have worked in the zero waste industry for over 25 years. Currently, I am Zero Waste Systems Manager at Stanford University and responsible to implement the Zero Waste Plan and reach zero waste by 2030. I have worked for a small, locally owned recycling, composting and solid waste collection and hauling company where I developed many waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting programs. I have led over 30 audits of the campus trash to determine what can be done to further reduce waste to landfill and return more material back to industry. I enjoy most working with students and the campus community on waste reduction and educating on the connection between materials management, the economy, and climate change. I am Past-President and current Senior Advisor to the California Resource Recovery Association and Chair of the Zero Waste Campus Council, formerly the California Collegiate Recycling Council.
